Overcome Resistance

If we were to attempt to distill what motivates us down to its very basic elements and give a simplified expression to our complicated lives, I think we could describe it like this: What we don’t want, we resist. What we do want, we pursue.

To add more context, while keeping our definition as simple (and as true) as possible, we could clarify this definition by saying: 

What we don’t want is change, so we resist it. What we do want is opportunity, so we pursue it.

Yet, this simplified equation of our human experience paints us into a corner when we realise change and opportunity are not seperate, but united. They are not opposed, but part of the same journey. They are not sold separately. They are a package deal. 

So the plot thickens in our simplified understanding of the human experience; while we instinctively want to resist change, we must find our courage to overcome that very resistance and progress despite the uncertainty, discomfort, and fear—because opportunity lives at the end of a change process, not before it, and not seperate from it .
